Star Magic big bosses noticed AJ Perez in a Milo commercial and was immediately offered to be signed up as one of its artists. AJ did not have second thoughts of accepting the rare opportunity and soon after, he was launched as a Star Circle 13 member. He was seen in Star Magic Presents and Asap ’07. He also played the brother of Judy Ann Santos in Star Cinema’s Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo. AJ is fast developing into a matinee idol. Most of her avid fans are teenagers who regularly watch Star Magic Presents Abt Ur Luv. Aside from his regular schedules in showbiz, AJ is a 7th grader in La Salle Greenhills. He is an active athlete in school. He usually spent hours of basketball practice. AJ Perez turned 14 last Feb. 17.

MASUWERTE itong si AJ Perez, na first movie pa lang niya ang Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo, nina Judy Ann Santos at Ryan Agoncillo, ay nag-mark na agad sa mga tao ang face at name niya, ha.

Si AJ ang gumanap na younger brother ni Juday sa Kasal. Aba, sa edad na 13, kitang-kita na agad ang kaguwapuhan nito, at kandidato nga ito para maging matinee idol.

Eh, ‘di ba nga, sangkatutak na ang mga artistang baguhan na kapag nakasama ni Juday ay biglang sumisikat. At ‘yun nga ang mangyayari kay AJ.

Anyway, si AJ ay si Josh sa Abt Ur Love ng ABS-CBN. Kakambal siya ni Hillary (Empress) na sobrang burara. Magkaibang-magkaiba ng ugali ang kambal.

Even in showbiz, this 13-year-old is turning out to be a towering success. One of the newer artists of Star Magic, AJ just landed his first role in a regular show, Star Magic Presents: Abt Ur Luv, with 18 other young stars, including the popular loveteam of Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao. This is actually AJ’s second time on Star Magic Presents. His first time was a guest appearance in an episode featuring Piolo Pascual, where he played Piolo’s younger brother.

In Abt Ur Luv, AJ plays a rich kid “who doesn’t act like one”. The character is pretty much an approximation of who AJ really is. Even in the way he dresses, he prefers casual and sporty attire.

Abt Ur Luv premiered on ABS-CBN last November 25 and will be aired every Saturday. But AJ kept the news a secret from his friends and classmates. “I didn’t tell them I now have a regular show. I wanted it to be a surprise, and they really were surprised. Some of them were even shocked,” he joked to members of the media who attended the press conference to launch the show.

Although he now has a regular show, AJ still has time for the other things that make up the life of an ordinary teenager. He is from school from 8am till 3pm Monday to Friday; he has basketball practice from 4-6pm, and on Sundays, that’s when they have games. “So even on Sunday, I don’t really get to rest,” he says.
So how did he manage to grow to such a towering height? Good genes, for starters. AJ’s mother is 5’4”, while his father is 5’8. “Then of course, I sleep early and drink milk,” he says with a mischievous wink.

How does AJ Perez feel about Yeng? "Masaya siyang kausap," he says. "But I was surprised when we were linked kasi minsan lang kami nagkita. Bilib ako sa talent niya. Ang galing mag-compose ng songs."

A lot of writers are placing their bets on AJ (for Antonello Joseph) as the next big thing at ABS-CBN due to his photogenic, clean-cut good looks. He’s just turning 14 on February 17 and a grade seven student at La Salle, but already stands 5’8&1/2" and looks more mature and well built for his age. "I was discovered when I appeared in a TV commercial," says AJ, who’s the elder of two brothers. "ABS then called me for a test then pinag-workshop na ko at sinali sa Star Magic Batch 13. Now, ginawa na kong regular in ‘Abt Ur Luv’."

He plays Josh, the twin brother of Empress Schuck who plays Hillary. "Best friends ko rito sina Chris Gutierrez at Angelo Patrimonio. Ang crush naming tatlo is Denise Laurel, who is Celine, a gym instructor na on na with Rayver Cruz."
AJ is bright and has won three times in "Game KNB."

WHEN leaves fall, many more take their place.One down but more come in to be counted.Star Magic of ABS-CBN may have lost Jericho Rosales lately but this season it is introducing new faces to develop for the vacant slot. New stardom aspirants who have potentials to be future matinee idols.Actually, Antonilo Joseph Perez is on his fourth month as teenager.

At 5’7" he looks like he’s 16 but when you realize that he is just a seventh grader at La Salle Greenhills, you’ll believe him when he says he turned 13 last Feb. 17.In fact, he has been with Star Magic since he was 12 but his studies have always been his top priority so his exposure includes only ASAP, Homeboy and guesting in some shows.But now that he says looks older and is taller, he expects more TV exposures.

He has gone through two months of workshops too.AJ has made three commercials: Globe, Milo and UFC. He admires Aga Muhlach and Claudine Barretto and considers Shaina Magdayao "pretty". No crushes, he insists, expects a few neighbors.No girlfriends. "Ang bata-bata ko to think about them," he tells us.

AJ Perez was first launched as one of the members of Star Circle Batch 13. His Milo commercial paved the way to his entry into showbix as it was in that commercial where he caught the eye of the ABS-CBN bosses. He had no idea he could be getting their attention this early but he is very thankful to have been given the break. He grabbed the rare opportunity and is really enjoying being on camera. He hopes to be a stand out among his peers in the field of drama.

Just a year after his first introduction with the Batch 13, AJ is fast developing into matinee idol material. His good looks and charm surely complement his talents, thus ensuring his evemtial rise to stardom. However, if he is made to choose, AJ said he’d like better to be famous basketball star someday.

Join sa regular cast si AJ sa pinakabagong teen show ng ABS-CBN na magpa-pilot this Saturday after Let’s Go, ang Star Magic Presents: Abt Ur Luv na pangungunahan nina Shaina Magdayao and Rayver Cruz from the direction of Erick Salud.

AJ plays Josh, one of the three makukulit guys kasama pa sina Angelo Patrimonio playing Webb and Chris Gutierrez playing Rickson. Dahil mga bagets pang sobra, wala pang in-assign na love team sa tatlo although ang magiging common object of their affection, si Denise Laurel playing Celine.

Pero sa tunay na buhay, nakakadalawa na palang ka-MU ang 13-year old at grade seven student ng De La Salle High School. The first daw was from ICA (Immaculate Concepcion Academy) pero wala na sila noon.

Currently isang taga- Poveda ang ka-MU ni AJ, one month na raw sila, very much the same in time and school sa relasyon ni Joaqui Mendoza na may one-month karelasyon na rin also sa Poveda.

Pero AJ insists good boy siya. Hindi niya pinagsabay ang dalawang girls baka daw mabasa ni taga-Poveda (as is they read tabloids) at magalit ito.

Thirteen years old lang si AJ Perez pero kung titingnan ito, parang seventeen years old na. Napakagwapo ng teener na sumikat sa Milo commercial.

Ipinatawag ito ng ABS-CBN para maging artista. Hindi nito akalain na sa isang iglap ay nasa showbiz na siya at nakasama sa Star Magic Presents (Piolo Pascual) at ngayon ay nasa telebisyon na via All Ur Luv kasama ang mga bagets ng Dos.

"Kahit po artista na ako ay gusto ko ring makatapos ng kursong medisina. Pangarap kong maging isang doctor," aniya.

KUNG si AJ Perez ang papipiliin, mas gusto niya sa-nang maka-parnter ang kanyang ‘kambal’ na si Empress Schuck.AJ and Empress play Josh and Hillary, ang kambal na kapatid ni Carla Humphries sa Star Magic Presents: Abt Ur Luv every Saturday at 5 p.m. after Let’s Go. Last Saturday, na feature si Josh and the two other ‘hoodlums’ sa episode na Wednesday Salpukan, the other two being Rickson (Chris Gutierrez) and Webb (Angelo Patrimonio). Sa story, AJ and Empress are twins playing Josh and Hillary. AJ will be paired kay Lauren Young, ang totomboy-tomboy na si Nelle na kapatid naman nina Rayver Cruz at Aldred Gatchalian. Okey lang kay AJ to be paired with Lauren dahil she is the type of girl AJ wants naman. Kaso nga if given the choice, mas gusto niya raw na si Empress ang partner niya, pero sa umpisa pa lang, sinabihan na nga silang magpi-play ng kambal dahil may similarity ang facial features nila.
